Hey!

We are back to traveling!

We fly back from the US to Buenos Aires, Argentina on Tuesday, arriving Wednesday morning. We’ll be checking out the city, trying to find some good restaurants, and we hope to see a tango show and a futbol (world, not American) game.

Here is how our plan is shaping up for the next couple of months:

  • Monday, February 8th – Sunday, February 14th: Uruguay: Montevideo, and Argentina: Puerto Madryn
  • Monday, February 15th – Sunday, February 21st: Argentina: Puerto Madryn, Rio Gallegos, and Ushuaia
  • Monday, February 22nd – Sunday, February 28th: Argentina: Ushuaia, Britain: Falkland Islands and South Georgia
  • March: Antarctic Peninsula, Argentina: Ushuaia, El Calafate, El Chalten, Parque Nacional Los Glaciares, and Chile: Punta Arenas, Puerto Natales, and Parque Nacional Torres del Paine
  • April: Argentina: Esquel, Bariloche, Mendoza, Iguazu, Salta, Bolivia: La Paz, and Peru: Cuzco, Puno, and Lima
  • May: Peru: Lima, Colombia: Bogota, Cartagena, United States: Boston

This week, you’ll read the posts about earlier in our trip when we:

  • Crossed the Peruvian-Chilean border (it was a classic South American border crossing)
  • Got a tour of the sky in the Atacama desert
  • Travel through South American on buses, and the kinds of buses we ride in

Hope you enjoy!

    Hi Stef,
When you are in Salta, Argentina, please try to take El Tren de las Nubes. If you do, also purchase some coca leaves to help you with the high altitude. It is definitely a worthwhile trip.

In Bariloche, see if you can go to Isla Victoria – and see the Bosque de los Arrayanes. These trees are said to have inspired Walt Disney, YES THE Walt Disney, to create Snow White’s trees that come to life in the forest,,,remember the 1939 animated film?! Anyway, it’s beautiful there.

I have 2 very special friends whose family are still in Esquel. So if you need anything while you are there, please give me a heads up and I’ll contact them to help you out.

You will love love love El Calafate and El Chalten! The hiking is wonderful! Super magical views of land and mountains! I am so super jealous that you are going to my favorite places on earth. Patagonia really ROCK! Hahahahahaha!

    Be safe and enjoy!

    Joanne
